INDEPENDENCE ASSURED

The founding principle that was forefront in the creation of the AAIM is that all candidates, independent or otherwise, that are elected must remain loyal to the people who reside within the respective riding boundaries.  In other words, represent the riding NOT a party or their ideology.  Therefore, an independent candidate that is successful in winning the people's trust and who joins the AAIM will do so with the confidence that the AAIM will never sanction, judge, criticize or make demands of an elected member. 

To ensure that elected members who join the AAIM Option remain independent the following assurances are written. 

1.  No Independent Member (IM) shall be censored by the AAIM Option or any of it's members, assuring that each IM will maintain their freedom of speech, expression and deportment.   

2.  No IM will be expected / pressured to vote for or against any particular topic, bill, etc.  Each IM will answer to their constituents for inappropriate decisions, comments or behavior. 

3.  Each IM has an equal status, no IM will be allowed special privilege unless allowed by the majority.   

4.  Any IM that violates the rights and freedoms of a AAIM member will be sanctioned by a special committee of the Alberta Election Bureau.
